The process is a bit messy but it always starts with a sketch and goes over a lot of iterations. I usually use anything and almost everything I can from pencil, calligraphy pens/nibs, markers and brushes. 

Mostly I avoid using colors (colored pencils or paint) because of the time it would take to get it right (It takes me at least an hour or two to finish a piece) – You can see some of the B&W originals on my Instagram

Afterwards I scan it and using Photoshop I’ll make some minor adjustments and add color. If I have the time I’ll vectorize it in Illustrator.

And that’s it!
